Flashes win home opener, 24-3 over Delaware State

The Kent State football team defeated Delaware State 24-3 this afternoon at Dix Stadium.
The Flashes (1-2) never trailed in the game and shut out Delaware State until late in the fourth quarter.
Senior quarterback Julian Edelman scored a 7-yard touchdown run with 9:49 left in the first quarter. The touchdown capped the Flashes’ first drive, which covered 62 yards in nine plays.
Sophomore wide receiver Leneric Muldrow gave the Flashes a 14-0 lead with a 31-yard touchdown run on a fake field goal on the first play of the second quarter.
Sophomore running back Andre Flowers had a 5-yard touchdown run with 1:35 left in the third quarter, and junior kicker Nate Reed finished the Flashes’ scoring with a 43-yard field goal with 8:25 left in the fourth quarter.
For the Flashes, Edelman was 10-of-20 passing for 113 yards and threw two interceptions. He also led the team with 71 yards rushing on 11 carries. Flowers added 54 yards on 17 carries.
The Flashes will play at Louisiana-Lafayette next Saturday at 7 p.m.
