Men’s golf fifth through two rounds at the Windon Memorial Tournament

At the Windon Memorial Invitational, the Kent State men’s golf team sits alone in fifth place after darkness suspended the second round of yesterday’s competition.

After round one, the Flashes fell from a third-place tie to fifth place by the end of round two.

Sophomore Mackenzie Hughes currently leads the team going into today’s last round at 2-over-par. Junior Brett Cairns is right behind Hughes, shooting 4-over-par.

Freshmen Kevin Miller and Nathan Tarter made their team debut yesterday.

Miller fell behind in round one, shooting three bogeys in his first four holes, but came back in the second round to shoot a 4-over-par.

Tarter triple bogeyed the 18th hole in round two en route to shooting 11-over-par through 14 holes in the second round.

Today, Kent State continues the two-day tournament, which features five teams from the top-25 and eight teams from the top-40.

The Flashes tee off at 8 a.m. at the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill. for the final round of the tournament this morning.
