Earlier this week, Toyota recalled more than 400,000 hybrid models for 2010, and now Toyota is recalling about 8,000 four-wheel-drive Tacoma trucks in North America due to potential production defects in the front drive shaft of the 2010 model. The front drive shaft of a small production of pickups may have a component that developed cracks during the manufacturing process. These cracks could lead to “the separation of the drive shaft at the joint portion,” according to CNN. The safety inspection and replacement will be performed at no cost.
And now for your international news, The Vancouver Winter Olympics opening ceremony took an unexpected turn when a Georgian luge athlete died on his final training run, causing concerns about the speed of the record-setting track. Nodar Kumaritashvili was propelled off the track near the end of the 4,500-foot-long course and struck a steel pole as he was coming out of the course’s last turn. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway, the IOC said, and the track was closed after the accident, according to CNN.
And for your entertainment news, the movie “Valentine’s Day” was the perfect pick for Valentine’s Day weekend. The romantic-comedy grossed over 52 million dollars Friday through today. If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s still time to take your Valentine out for dinner and a movie.
