Humes’ second half drives Flashes to victory
Junior guard Jamilah Humes scored 22 second half points to lead the Kent State women’s basketball team to a comeback victory over Central Michigan in a Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal, 68-55.
Humes, who scored only two points in the first half in limited playing time after early foul trouble, was aided in the comeback by junior forward Taisja Jones and senior forward Yoshica Spears. Jones recorded a double-double (10 points and 11 rebounds), while Spears added 12 points of her own.
The Flashes turned the ball over 17 times and shot just over 21 percent from the field in the first half and went into the locker room down 28-21.
Humes shot nine-for-11 and the team’s shooting improved to 60.7 percent in the second half.
The Flashes will take on Toledo in the MAC Tournament semifinals Friday at noon.
