Best of Kent: landmarks
If you’re traveling north on state Route 43, about a minute past Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, you will see a supply company on your left. Rather than glancing at the huge rock piles, some drivers may be distracted by the strange landmark on the corner of Ravenna and 43. There is a life-size statue of a grey rhinoceros sitting on the lawn of Scott Molders, Inc. The company is an industry leader in injection, compression and transfer molding of thermoset plastics, according to their website. So why a rhinoceros in front of a plastics company? Whatever the reason, it makes for a great photo opportunity with your friends. You could even tell others that you visited the dinosaur exhibit at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, but really, you didn’t leave Kent.
