College Democrats and Republicans offer debate watch parties

In accordance with the debate between Governor Ted Strickland and republican candidate John Kasich, the College Democrats and College Republicans will each attend debate watch parties at respective locations. Both parties are open to all students. College Republicans will meet with Portage County’s Young Republicans at Rico’s Restaurant & Lounge at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to carpool should be at the Student Center bus stop by 6 p.m. Along with watching the debate, students will also have the opportunity to meet with republican candidate Todd McKenney, who is running for state representative of Ohio’s 43rd district. College Democrats will meet at the Kent Democratic Coordinated Campaign office at 184 Currie Hall Parkway from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to watch the debate. Mark Miller, College Democrat President, said it’s important for students to watch the debate and understand each candidate’s opinions.

“It helps them to make a more informed decision,” he said.
