Orchestra to present works by Beethoven, Brahms
The Kent State University Orchestra will present musical pieces by historical and influential composers at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the University Auditorium in Cartwright Hall.
Scott Seaton, conductor of the Kent State Orchestra, said the orchestra will be performing “two monster repertoire pieces.”
Admission is free for Kent State students, $5 for other students and $10 for general admission.
The orchestra’s two major pieces are Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto” and Brahms’ “Symphony No. 4.”
Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto” will feature three Kent State faculty members: Cathy Robinson on violin, Keith Robinson on cello and Donna Lee on piano.
“It is a fantastic piece,” Seaton said. “It is performed very often by orchestras around the world, and it should be a great experience for our orchestra to work with three excellent faculty members.”
Seaton said Brahms’ “Symphony No. 4” is a substantial part of the concert.
“It is one of the great ‘meaty’ pieces of the repertoire that all orchestras, especially at the collegiate level, need to experience at some point.”
