High school students to be featured in concert set for Saturday
The School of Music will host the All-Star Band Concert featuring more than 100 high school band students playing under the conduction of two Kent State band directors Saturday evening.
The All-Star Bands will play at 7:30 p.m. in Cartwright Auditorium. Marcus Neiman, interim director of the Kent State Concert Band, said the All-Star Wind Ensemble and the Kent State All-Star Festival Band will be playing together at 7:30 p.m. A number of members of the Wind Ensemble will also be playing with the Honors Ensemble in the Ludwig Recital Hall at 3:45 p.m.
The concerts are free and open to the public.
Scott Curfman, interim director of bands, is in charge of directing the Wind Ensemble. According to a Kent State press release, this band is made up of students who were not only recommended by their high school directors, but also sent in a taped audition.
Neiman will be conducting the Kent State All-Star Festival Band. He said the band is made up of students who were recommended by their high school band directors.
