Bomb threat closes building at Kent State Stark
The Kent State Stark campus canceled classes on Monday in its Fine Arts building because of a bomb threat at the Stark State College campus.
At approximately 8:55 a.m. Monday, the Canton Police Department received a telephoned bomb threat for Stark State. Investigation of the threat was transferred to the Jackson Township Police Department who coordinated efforts with Stark State security officials, said Chief David Zink of Jackson Township.
The Fine Arts building at Kent State Stark was closed as a precautionary measure because of its proximity to Stark State College’s campus. All students, faculty and staff evacuated from the building. Classes resumed at 5 p.m. Monday.
Jackson Township police are still searching the Stark State campus with the help of campus security and the Canton Police Department’s bomb-sniffing dog. No information as to who called in the threat is known at this time.
