Men’s golf takes first place
John Hahn led the way for the Kent State men’s golf team as they won the Fireline Towson Invitational. Hahn had rounds of 71, 71, 73 for a combined score of 215 to help him win first place individually. He finished -1 for the tournament.
“It was a pretty good week for us all around,” Kent State coach Herb Page said. “We had to battle through some cold and wet conditions, which made the scoring a little tough, but our guys showed some perseverance and managed to still hit some nice shots.”
Kent State won the tournament comfortably with a total score of +15. The second-place team, Towson University, was +40.
In addition to Hahn, four other Golden Flashes placed in the top 10 for the tournament. Brett Cairns placed fourth with a +4 for the tournament and a third round 75. Mackenzie Hughes, Kevin Miller and Taylor Pendrith of Kent State finished in a three-way-tie for fifth place at +5.
“This was a step in the right direction for us, this his how we should be playing this time of year,” said Page. “We’ll look to take the confidence gained from our performance this weekend down to our next tournament in Texas where the competition will be even more challenging.”
