Cornhole tourney to fund Adam Hamilton scholarship Saturday

More than 70 teams will compete in a cornhole tournament Saturday at 11 a.m. with all proceeds going toward a scholarship fund in honor of Army Spc. Adam Hamilton.

The Kent State Veterans Club and Hamilton’s family organized the tournament to raise money for the Adam Hamilton Memorial Academic and Athletic Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will go to graduating seniors at Hamilton’s alma mater, Theodore Roosevelt High School.

“We figured it would be the nice thing to do,” said Rick Siers, secretary of Kent State Veterans Club.

In May 28, Hamilton died in Afghanistan from an exploded IED.

Siers said 70 teams are currently registered for the tournament. Anyone interested in competing in the cornhole tournament can email Nathan Lehota at [email protected] or Cat Hofer at [email protected] to register a two-person team.
