KSU’s New York fashion school reacts to hurricane
Kent State’s fashion studio in New York City canceled classes Monday, Aug. 29 due to weather alerts from Hurricane Irene.
Emily Aldredge, NYC Studio director, notified students in an email that classes were canceled and Monday’s orientation was rescheduled. Aldredge also provided information for students to prepare for the hurricane.
Katie Wallace, junior fashion design major, said streets were deserted and many businesses were closed because of the storm.
However, Wallace said the hurricane was not as bad as it was predicted to be.
“There is some flooding, so that is a problem,” Wallace said, “but it really hasn’t affected us too much other than that a lot of places are closed.”
