Media professionals to discuss “Foul Play”

The Poynter Kent State Media Ethics Workshop, titled “Foul Play,” will be held in the FirstEnergy Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.

Speakers featured during the workshop include Rob King, senior vice president of editorials at ESPN Print and Digital Media, Terry Pluto, sports columnist at The Cleveland Plain Dealer and Andy Baskin, sports director at News Channel 5.

The workshop speakers will discuss the Ohio State University football scandal, the relationship between social and sports media, sports journalism and the role women have in sports media.

The seventh annual workshop is sponsored by the Poynter Institute, the Media Law Center for Ethics and Access, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Kent State TeleProductions, the Akron Beacon Journal and the Online News Association.

Tickets for professional media and public relations are $25, while educators are $20.
