Suspect robs Route 59 Walmart Friday evening

An unknown suspect robbed the Kent-Ravenna Walmart at gunpoint at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The suspect, described by witnesses as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, showed a handgun to a cashier at the Ravenna Township store and demanded money, Sheriff David Doak told the Record-Courier.

Doak said the suspect then fled to a dark, four-door vehicle with minor front-end damage and a mismatch car-hood with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is in search of the suspect, who it said should be considered armed and dangerous.
