Field hockey picks up second straight victory
It took Kent State two overtimes to knock off Central Michigan, but the Flashes will return to Kent with the satisfaction of their second-straight victory. Kent State defeated Central Michigan, 4-3, on Saturday in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Senior Debbie Bell tied the game in the 67th minute of play and then won it for the Flashes with the game-winning goal in the 86th minute. Rebecca Lee cut the Central Michigan lead to 3-2 on an assist from fellow sophomore Sabrina Binder in the 63rd minute.
Senior Carla Johl scored the first goal of the game for the Flashes, her second goal in as many games. Goalkeeper Jahna Jordan made five second half saves to keep the game within reach for the Flashes, who provided enough offense to take home the win. Kent State will travel to Athens on Friday to face the Ohio Bobcats at 3 p.m., and then return home to host Missouri State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
