Owner of The Pub in Kent issues apology

The owner of The Pub in Kent on Franklin Avenue offered an apology for its COVID-19 violations after being referred to the state for further investigation last month.

Becky Lindsey, the owner of The Pub in Kent, issued an apology on Facebook on Oct. 5 that acknowledged The Pub’s staff has not done the best they could to comply with COVID-19 requirements issued by the Kent City Health Department. Employees recognize “there are things we need to do better,” she said.

Two weeks ago, KentWired published an article that reported three Kent bars, including The Pub, had been referred to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for investigation after repeatedly violating the Dine Safe Ohio order.

“We are working very hard to correct some of our issues, including reducing our already limited capacity, reminding everyone to wear their masks, requiring customers to remain seated, and designating order locations,” Lindsey wrote. In order to keep staff and customers safe, The Pub will close at 5 p.m. on Halloween, one of their busiest nights of the year, she said.

Located on Franklin Avenue, The Pub in Kent was found out of compliance during its last seven COVID-19 check-ins. Among the violations documented were failure to enforce masks for staff and customers and failure to ensure groups were maintaining proper distance from each other in overcrowded areas.
