In a game that saw three lead changes and many tense moments, Manning remained cool under pressure, and delivered a game-winning drive for the Giants with fewer than four minutes remaining in the 4th quarter.
Manning led the Giants to six come-from-behind victories during the regular season, which were the most in the NFL.
The quarterback, who was once considered the third best quarterback in his own family, once again proved all of his doubters wrong. Manning became only the eleventh quarterback in history to win multiple Super Bowls, and only the fifth player to be named Super Bowl MVP more than once.
With the Giants down 17-15 in the 4th quarter, Giants wide receiver Mario Manningham made a spectacular catch while tip-toeing the sideline to put the team in scoring position.
The Giants then ate as much clock as possible until running back Ahmad Bradshaw scored the go-ahead touchdown with 57 seconds left in the game.
For the Patriots, the game was eerily similar to the team’s loss to the Giants in the 2007 Super Bowl. The Patriots led the game late into the 4th quarter, and were victimized by a circus catch that would eventually spell doom for the seemingly perpetual Super Bowl favorites.
When the Patriots received the ball with less than a minute left, you could feel the trepidation of Giants fans as New England’s fearless leader, Tom Brady, stepped onto the field.
Brady, a sure-fire hall of famer, led the Patriots to the 50-yard line, giving New England one last chance for glory.
But in the end the Giants’ defense held up and New Yorkers celebrated yet another world championship.
