Kent State women’s basketball’s season ends against Ohio

The Kent State women’s basketball team was knocked out of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon at the hands of Ohio 58-40.

Coming out fast right out of the gate, freshman guard Jamie Hutcheson hit a 3-pointer 50 seconds into the game. Both teams had slow starts with the Bobcats not scoring until 3:46 into the game.

Slow would be the theme for the Flashes as half the team didn’t even hit double digits and went into the halftime down 34-8.

Continuing to struggle in the second half, the Flashes finished the game shooting 29.5 percent from the floor on 13-44 shooting. Ohio didn’t shoot lights out, but did capitalize on the Flashes’ 23 turnovers.

The Flashes did out-rebound Ohio 38-36, but lost every other statistic.

The loss marks the end of the road for the very young Flashes, closing out a 6-21 season.
