Sing, dance and laugh at open mic lunch

Students and community members are invited to share their creative talents in the form of poetry, music, comedy or other acts at the performing arts library’s Open Mic Lunch Friday at noon.

The last Open Mic Lunch of the semester will take place in the reading room D004 of the Performing Arts library.

All students and community members are welcome to attend and perform, said Joe Clark, university libraries assistant professor.

“Open Mic Lunch is open to anyone, not only Kent State main campus students but also students from other campuses and community members,” Clark said.

“We’ve had all kinds of performances from poetry being recited, to monologues being performed and all kinds of musical acts, from classical chamber music, to a rock and roll band,” Clark said.

The Open Mic Lunch is held three times a semester, at the beginning of every month, Clark said.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the arts through performances,” Clark said. “This Friday, we have a theater vocal group performing show tunes. We’re also going to have a guitar player performing a solo, someone doing poetry, and we frequently have stand up comedians. We also have a singer-songwriter from the Stark campus.”
