Student to show off new fashion line
DTR Apparel, a student-based clothing company, will debut its clothing line at 9 p.m. Friday at the Brewhouse.
Zac Bayer, senior entrepreneurship major, is the creator and manager of DTR Apparel, which aims to encourage and inspire students.
“Originally the company was called Dreams To Reality Clothing,” Bayer said. “It’s basically our message that we want to promote to kids and young adults — to chase and achieve their dreams. It’s targeted to mostly anyone who’s still in school.”
DTR Apparel officially launched in December, but Bayer said the idea started over a year ago. He began testing the market and getting possible design ideas before officially starting the business.
Bayer said his younger sister primarily designed DTR Apparel, while he focused on the business side. Most of the clothes featured are graphic T-shirts, hats, shorts and sweat shirts.
“This spring release party will actually be the first time we’ve released more than one product,” Bayer said. “We have eight brand-new products ready for Friday night, including embroidered shirts.”
Bayer said he had a few other places in mind to hold the debut party, but thought the Brewhouse was the right fit. While most other bars allow only customers who are 21 and older, the Brewhouse allows 18 and older, which caters to his younger target audience.
Katlyn Rossi, manager of the Brewhouse, said she is thrilled to host the event because it is so distinct.
“As long as I’ve worked here, we’ve never had a fashion event like this,” Rossi said. “It’s cool, they’ll have models to show off their new clothing line. I think it will be a great, different event.”
Bayer said he will have a table set up to showcase his designs. The event will feature a raffle to win free T-shirts and sweatshirts, along with free pizza from Hungry Howie’s. There will also be no cover charge from 9 to 10 p.m. in order to help bring in a younger crowd.
“It’s really just the release of us as a company as a whole since we are now officially registered with the state,” Bayer said. “It’s a release for our new line and then just to have fun, really.”
