“Telling Our Stories” raises money for Chardon shootings
Kent State musical theater majors will perform tell-all stories through songs at a fundraising cabaret, ”Telling Our Stories,” benefitting the Chardon Healing Fund through United Way.
The cabaret will be held 6 p.m. Monday in the EZ Black Box Theatre in the Music and Speech Center. Admission is “pay-what-you-can” and all proceeds go to the Chardon Healing Fund.
“I grew up just outside of Chardon, and I had friends that walked those hallways,” said Caitlin Rose, junior musical theater major and director of the cabaret. “The shooting really shook me up and I wanted to do something about it.”
Rose said the night is all about music and telling stories.
“Basically we’re all just getting together and signing songs that have a theme or a variation off of a theme,” Rose said.
“It will be a nice relaxed evening,” Rose said. “They’re all about love or loosing love, meeting someone or forgetting their name. Embarrassing stuff like that.”
