Kent State notched a 4-2 win over the University of Vermont Tuesday at Murphy-Mellis field. The victory starts a winning streak for the Flashes, who began the season with three straight home games at 2-1.

Freshman midfielder and defender Alayna Harris said the team’s effort was a key factor on the offensive end.

“We worked really hard this game and scored more goals,” Harris said.

Sophomore midfielder Julia Hofmann scored the first goal of the game. Junior Sabrina Binder and sophomore Abbie Carrico assisted Hofmann.

During the 140-minute game, junior midfielders Rebecca Lee and Shannon Martin both scored unassisted goals. This was Lee’s first goal of the season and Martin’s third.

Sophomore midfielder Hannah Faulkner scored her first goal of the season and was assisted by Lee.

On the heels of her first career shutout against James Madison University, sophomore goalkeeper Jahna Jordan made four saves against Vermont.

Freshman Alexis Madeira said she is looking forward to the team’s next game.

“I’m excited we are going to do really well and we are starting to click and play as a team,” Madeira said.

The Golden Flashes travel to New England Saturday to battle Boston University. The game starts at 5 p.m. at Jordan Field.
