Stricklin receives contract extension
Scott Stricklin, Kent State’s head baseball coach, recently signed a contract extension to remain with the team he has led for the past eight seasons.
The new agreement, which is reportedly worth $300,000 per year for six years, was announced during a press conference Monday morning in the M.A.C. Center.
“To be the head coach of my alma mater is a great honor for me and my family,” Stricklin said Monday. “Kent State means an awful lot to me, our entire family and our coaching staff. I think this is a commitment shown by the university and also by our coaches.”
Stricklin graduated from Kent State in 1995 and became head coach of the baseball team in 2004. Since then, Stricklin has led the Flashes to five NCAA Regional appearances in eight years, including the program’s first trip to the College World Series this summer.
Stricklin said the biggest key for his signing a new deal with Kent State is knowing that he can lead a winning team in his own hometown.
“This is where I grew up,” Stricklin said. “To know that we can win here on a national level, that’s extremely important to me. The commitment here at Kent State is here for baseball.”
