The women’s soccer team will play its last weekend of Mid-American Conference play during Homecoming weekend. The Flashes play Northern Illinois University at 4 p.m. Friday and The University of Toledo at 1 p.m. Sunday at Zoeller Field.

The Flashes won their last four games and had two back-to-back shutouts against Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan last weekend. Kent State is 10-3-2 overall and 5-2-1 MAC.

“I think going into practice this week we’ve had a lot of confidence,” senior midfielder Sara Henderson said. “We know that we need to go into this weekend with a good attitude and hopefully getting two wins to keep us as high as we can in the standings going into playoffs.”

Northern Illinois is 6-7-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the MAC. The Huskies lost to the top team in the conference, Miami, 3-2 and Ball State 1-0 last weekend.

“Another big weekend of conference play, both Northern and Toledo are strong teams that historically have done well and we’ll just look to give it our best effort this week and play our best possible,” said coach Rob Marinaro.

Toledo split last weekend against Ball State with a 2-1 win and a 1-0 loss to Miami. Toledo is 4-3-1 in MAC play with 6-9-1 overall.

Senior Megan Repas said this game will give the team a chance for redemption.

“We lost to them last year, and so obviously losing to them last year motivates us to beat them this year, so we’re going to play really hard like we always do,” Repas said.
