2014 Kent State grad Corey Conners finished tied for 10th in the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

Kent State golf has a long and prestigious history, but cracking the top 10 at the Masters had eluded alumni of the program before today.

Behind a score of three-under-par during the final round, Conners finished the tournament at nine-under-par.

Conners had an underwhelming first round, finishing two-over-par, but once he got to know the course he bounced back in a big way. A seven-under-par in the second round launched him into contention, and after a solid third round he went into the final day tied for 15th.

The native of Listowel, Ontario, also made history for his home nation of Canada. The 65 that he shot in that second round is the lowest score ever shot by a Canadian in The Masters.

Cracking the top 10 is a huge accomplishment, and the purse that Conners received reflects that.

According to ESPN, Conners will walk away from Augusta with $287,500.

This is Conners’ second top-10 finish in a major tournament this year. He finished tied for eighth at the ZOZO Championship in Sherwood, California at the end of October.

Conners is ranked thirty-seventh in the PGA’s FedEx Cup rankings and has taken home $687,420 in winnings in 2020.
