Kent State senior Chris Evans fills his statistical line in each game as one of the Flashes’ main offensive options.

His awards list is filling up as well.

Evans was named the Mid-American Conference East division Player of the Week for the second time this season after his performance in two Kent State victories last week.

The forward scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and recorded two steals in Kent State’s 74-60 win against Nebraska Saturday night in Lincoln, Neb. The win was the program’s first road victory over a Big Ten school since 1970.

“Chris played really hard, and the biggest thing for us is him making sure his main focus was on winning, which it was,” Flashes head coach Rob Senderoff said after the victory against Nebraska. “He made a ton of winning plays for us and made some really tough baskets. He is a good player, and he stepped up tonight and played really well.”

Evans recorded a double-double Nov. 20, scoring 14 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and recording two steals and two blocks in a thrilling 69-68 home victory against Bethune-Cookman Tuesday night.

Evans, one of three senior captains, leads Kent State in nearly every major statistical category, averaging 17.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.4 steals and one block per game. He also leads the team in field goal percentage (.597) and free throw percentage (.781).

Evans shared the award with Ohio’s Walter Offutt. It was the third time in Evans’ career in which he has been honored.
