National Teacher of the Year to speak about the ‘power of one’
The 2012 National Teacher of the Year, Rebecca Mieliwocki, will present a Gerald H. Read Distinguished Lecture Series at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the KIVA.
“Every year, for the past 20 years or so Kent State has been one of seven sites that the National Teacher of the Year has visited,” said Linda Robertson, director of the Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education.
Robertson said Mieliwocki is a motivational speaker who will make students and faculty alike feel confident about their choice to become a teacher.
“Professors who go, students who go, always feel good after this lecture,” Robertson said.
The topic for the evening will be “Supercharging the Teaching Profession by Igniting the Power of One.”
“It’s a feel good kind of an evening of celebration of education and the belief of helping others,” Robertson said.
The event is free and open to the public.
