KSU graduate John Caparulo will perform stand-up comedy at 8 p.m. Thursday in the KSU Ballroom.

According to the FlashLine announcement, Caparulo began his comedy career in clubs around Pittsburgh and Cleveland in 1997. He is well known for his regular appearances on “Chelsea Lately.”

According to IMDb.com, Caparulo has appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Comedy Central Presents.” He also performed on the TV special “Blue Collar Comedy: The Next Generation.”

USG director of programming Elizabeth Holton handled press releases and

promotions for the event. Holton saw Caparulo at a show four years ago and feels his

jokes will appeal to KSU students.

“He does a lot of stand-up dealing with being from Ohio,” Holton said. “Students will really be able to understand that humor.”

USG expects a large turnout for the event.

“This event isn’t just for students,” Holton said. “People in the Kent community

are aware of it and will attend, too.”

Caparulo was a member of Phi Sigma Pi at KSU. He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio.

Tickets cost $5 for students and $10 for the general public and are on sale at the M.A.C. Center ticket office and all Ticketmaster locations.

The event is sponsored by Undergraduate Student Government.

Doors for the show open at 7 p.m.
