Tickets for Nobel Peace Prize winning author Elie Wiesel go on sale to Kent State students, faculty and staff Friday at midnight.

Wiesel, a Jewish-American writer of the award winning book “Night” and a holocaust survivor, is set to speak at the M.A.C. Center as part of Kent State’s Presidential Speaker Series on April 11. The first 1,500 tickets distributed on a first-come basis to Kent State students are free.

The university is expected to release a link for tickets this week.

Eric Mansfield, executive director of University Media Relations, said students, faculty and staff should use their banner ID to purchase tickets online.

“The tickets are first come, first serve,” Mansfield said. “We’ve already received calls from people who are interested, so we do think the tickets will go fast.”

Erin Finnell, senior educational studies program major, said she is excited about the event, and the new way of purchasing tickets will make it much easier for her to attend.

“I don’t have time to go all the way to the Ticketmaster on campus and wait in line,” Finnell said. “My classes are on the other side of campus. I’ll definitely be going, now. I think they should start doing big event tickets this way from now on.”

Mansfield said, after the first 1,500 free tickets are gone, students can purchase tickets for $10 each. General public can purchase tickets for $20, and preferred seating tickets for $50.
