Who’s Hot

Pittsburgh Penguins – The Pens have been red hot in the month of February,

going 7-3 in that span. Their next two games will be in the friendly confines of the

Consol Energy Center against the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Montreal Canadiens – The “Habs” are riding a five-game win streak, in which they have only given up five goals in that span.

Carolina Hurricanes – Southeast Division-leading Carolina is 3-1 in their last four games, with the loss coming to the first-place Canadiens.

Chicago Blackhawks – 16 games into the season, zero losses in regulation for

the ‘Hawks. They are in the middle of a seven-game homestand, which is good,

because Chicago has only lost once at home this year.

Anaheim Ducks – Anaheim must really like playing on the road, being that they are

5-1 on the road in the month of February.

Who’s Not

Florida Panthers – February has been a bad month for the Panthers, losing the

last five games, three of which coming in overtime. Special teams have

been a problem for Florida over the losing streak, as they have gone 0-for-15 on the

powerplay.

Winnipeg Jets – The Jets are 1-3 in their last four games, in which all of the losses have been at home.

Detroit Red Wings – After scoring only one power play goal in the last four games,

hopefully the Wings can get back in the win column against fellow Central Division

rival Bluejackets.

Columbus Blue Jackets – 2-6 in the month of February, the Blue Jackets are on the road for three more games of a six-game road swing, but they have not won on the road this month.

San Jose Sharks – Undefeated in January, one win so far in February. Considered the

biggest threat to the Blackhawks in the Western Conference, the Sharks completely

fell off the table in the second month of the season, scoring only five goals in their

last four games.

Three Stars

John Tavares, NYI – Seven points (five goals and two assists) in the last five games for Tavares.

Sidney Crosby, PIT – Love him or hate him, you have to admit, Sidney Crosby is

very good, as is evident from his eight points in the last four games.

Martin St. Louis, TB – Five assists in the last four games, three of which came in victories against the Maple Leafs and Panthers.
