The FBI released poetry by Alaskan serial killer Israel Keyes. Keyes killed himself in his jail cell Dec. 2, 2012. He was in prison for the murder of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig, of Anchorage. Keyes also confessed to killing seven other people, whose bodies have not been found. In his poetry, Keyes mentioned an unnamed victim, but police have no leads on Keyes’ other victims.

The six educators who were killed in the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook massacre will be honored by President Obama next week with the 2012 Presidential Citizens Medal. The award is one of the nation’s highest civilian awards. The ceremony will take place in the White House on Feb. 15 where Obama will give awards to the families of Lauren Rousseau, principal Dawn Hochsprung, psychologist Mary Sherlach and teachers Rachel D’Avino, Anne Marie Murphy and Victoria Soto. The staff members mentioned are credited with protecting the students from the gunman who killed them and 20 first graders.

A new Monopoly token will be added to the newest property trading game. A cat piece will replace the iron as a board game piece. The game is made by Hasbro Inc., which decided to let fans vote online to replace the iron. Hasbro made the announcement Wednesday after the voting polls were closed on Facebook Tuesday night.
