Israeli soldiers to lunch with students

Two Israeli soldiers who served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Lital and Ari, will share their personal service and life experiences from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Cohn Jewish Center.

Admission to the event is free and lunch will be provided to attendants.

“Israeli Soldiers Stories” is co-sponsored by The Golden Flashes for Israel, StandWithUs (SWU), the international Israel education organization, Kent College Republicans and Kent Interhall Council.

SWU is an 11-year-old, international, non-profit pro-Israel education organization that supports people around the world who want to educate their own campuses and communities about Israel. SWU hosts speakers, programs and conferences in multiple cities around the world.

Robert Weitzner, president of Golden Flashes for Israel, said he thinks the event will draw a lot of students.

“This event will be beneficial to all Kent State students given the close relationship between Israel and the United States,” Weitzner said. “It is important to understand what goes on in other parts of the world especially somewhere as politically active as the Middle East.”
