CCI hosts its first research colloquium
Faculty and graduate students in the College of Communication and Information gathered at 3:30 p.m. Friday for the first “CCI Research Colloquium.”
Four professors from the College of Communication and Information shared their health-themed research projects with the audience. Phillip Reed, graduate appointee in the College of Communication and Information, said the CCI Colloquium was the first in a series of future colloquiums.
Prior to Friday’s event, Reed said faculty and graduates in the college would share their research “informally” to one another. He said George Cheney, professor of communication studies, had the idea for the colloquium, which would be use to inform people in the college about research projects and opportunities.
“I think the big importance is that we understand one another’s research,” Reed said, “and that we’re able to better our own research and participate in the ones that are presented.”
Reed said the event also helped to promote a handful of faculty, doctoral and graduate students’ research that has been ongoing in the college. The following are the presenters from Friday’s event:
- Rebecca Cline, professor in communication studies
- Gretchen Rinnert, assistant professor in visual communication design
- Catherine Goodall, assistant professor in communication studies
- Christine Hudak, professor in the school of library and information science
