12th Annual Juried Cup Show to host reception at Downtown Gallery

The School of Art’s Downtown Gallery is hosting a reception Thursday evening for the 12th Annual Juried Cup Show on display from March 13 through April 20.

Lesley Sickle, the Downtown Gallery coordinator who has been involved in the event since 2008, said her responsibilities for the upcoming event include preparing the gallery, installing shelving and putting cups on display.

“This year’s exhibition was selected from 214 entries from over 32 states,” Sickle said. “This nationally promoted annual event was originally sponsored in part by the Kent State University School of Art’s Ceramics Program. The internationally recognized program continues to be an integral part of the cup show.”

Sickle said $1,000 in prizes will be awarded by this year’s juror, Kirk Mangus, professor of art and head of the ceramics program.

The reception will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 141 East Main Street. Sickle said the reception for the show is free and open to the public.
