After an important win over Northern Illinois, the Kent State football team swept the Mid-American Conference weekly honors as three players were recognized for their performances.

Graduate student quarterback Dustin Crum, graduate student linebacker Nico Bolden and freshman kicker Andrew Glass were all named players of the week for the East Division. 

Crum earned his third MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week award of the season after receiving the honor last week following the Flashes’ win over Ohio. He also won it after his performance against Buffalo in week six. 

Crum completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 322 yards, his second-highest performance this season, and two touchdowns. He had four rushing attempts for 72 yards, averaging 18 yards per carry and scoring two touchdowns. He leads the team in rushing touchdowns with eight, one more than sophomore running back Marquez Cooper. 

Bolden was named the MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high nine solo tackles. He had 12 total tackles for the second-straight game. 

Bolden also forced and recovered a fumble late in the first quarter. NIU redshirt senior wide receiver Tyrice Richie caught a 27-yard pass to put the Huskies in the red zone, but Bolden ripped the ball out and fell onto it. It was Bolden’s third turnover of the year, and KSU is tied for second in the FBS in turnovers with 20 this season. 

Finally, Glass was named the MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week. He was seven-for-seven on extra points and nailed a 39-yard field goal. Glass has made every extra point he has attempted this season and is 13-for-17 in field goals.

Glass also helped limit Northern Illinois’ impact on kickoff after the Huskies entered the game third in the MAC on kick returns, with an average of 22 yards. He only allowed two returns on nine kickoffs with an average return of 17.5 yards. 

KSU (4-1 MAC, 5-4 overall) travels to Mount Pleasant to take on Central Michigan on Wednesday at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPNU.
