Greeks come together as a community during Greek Week events
Each Greek chapter put on events and competed in team competitions during Greek Week, which concludes Friday.
“Some events are for Greeks only,” said Jill Koehler, junior early childhood education major and member of Sigma Sigma Sigma. “Other events throughout the week are open to anyone. They take place all over campus.”
Some of the week’s events included Greek Jeopardy, Greeks on the Green, Greek Idol and informational events for those interested in Greek life. Greek Olympics is the last event of the week and takes place Friday from noon to 3 p.m. Koehler said Greeks also participated in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes and sold ribbons for Chi Omegas who have died in Afghanistan.
Jeopardy took place Monday at 7 p.m. in the Kiva. Delta Tau Delta received first place.
Greeks receive participation points as well as points for winning competitions. Koehler said an overall winner of Greek Week will be announced after points for Relay for Life are added to the team scores.
“We have Greek Week to celebrate our community,” Koehler said. “We are all so close so having this time together is a lot of fun and helps show others that it is fun to be Greek. We really pride ourselves on being a community and that shines through this week.”
