Kent State senior Tommy Sasfy and sophomore Andy Candiello were honored for their academic excellence this season and named to the 2013 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Wrestling Team Wednesday.

Sasfy, who will graduate this May with a degree in integrated science, received his second Academic All-MAC accolade. His first came back in 2011, and he earned an Academic All-MAC honorable mention the following year in 2012. He currently carries a 3.43 cumulative grade point average.

Candiello, an up-and-coming wrestler on the team, claimed his first Academic All-MAC award. As a pre-med biology major, Candiello currently maintains a 3.71 GPA.

Flashes head coach Jim Andrassy said he was proud of Sasfy and Candiello for their accomplishments.

“Any time we can get two guys on (Academic All-MAC Team) it’s a good thing,” Andrassy said.
