Colorado prosecutors announced Monday that they will seek the death penalty for James Holmes, the 25-year-old man who is on trial for the Colorado movie theater shooting, which killed 12 people and wounded several others on July 20, 2012. Holmes’s trial was pushed back from August to February.

Shain Gandee, 21, who is a cast member of the MTV reality show “Buckwild” was found dead Monday. Police found his body in a sport utility vehicle in a ditch with his uncle and a third, unidentified person. Authorities had been searching for the men since early Sunday morning. They were last seen leaving a bar. Police are unsure of the cause of death but said no foul play is suspected.

The Obama administration said it has not seen changes in North Korean military mobilization or repositioning of forces, despite numerous threats from the leader Kim Jong Un. The United States publicized its own recent military moves that include the deployment of bombers and F-22 stealth fighters to South Korea as part of a two-month-long military exercise. On Monday, U.S. officials said a Japan-based section of the U.S. Navy positioned a missile-destroyer capable of shooting down ballistic missiles closer to the Korean peninsula.

The Boy Scouts of America rejected an application for a scouting troop sponsored by a Utah gay-rights organization. The Utah Pride Center asked for permission to start a troop for 10 middle-school aged children with straight troop leaders. The group was told the mission of their organization didn’t match the goals of the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts nation executive board is discussing a proposal to end its no-gays membership policy or create a local option that would leave the decision up to individual troops. A decision is expected to be reached in May.
