Front campus will soon be home to a gazebo, complete with a seating area, for the Kent State community. Contractors began work on the project the week of Sept. 9 and hope for completion by homecoming weekend.

Brian Pickering, landscape architect and project manager, said the new gazebo will be for general enjoyment and meeting grounds.

“I think everybody loves the beauty of front campus. It’s just another spot to gather,” Pickering said. “Over the past couple years, we’ve been installing more benches, more outdoor picnic tables and places for people to enjoy the nice campus.”

The gazebo will be a well-lit area. Pickering said it will serve as a place for small events or gatherings such as wedding or group photos.

Costs are still being totaled, but Gregg Floyd, vice president for finance and administration, is providing funds for the project.
