‘Zombies’ to infest Kent State Rec Center
The Student Recreation and Wellness Center is hosting Outlast the Outbreak at 9 p.m. Friday.
The event mocks a zombie apocalypse, and the Rec is the last refuge. Participants must fight to survive and earn points by completing various tasks.
Ellie Kohl, a student event specialist at the Rec, did not want to give too much away but said “one of the tasks may include live worms.”
Each participant will receive a flag football belt with two flags. When flags are removed, the participant becomes infected. If the flags are intact, he or she has successfully survived the apocalypse.
“The goal is to come out, complete tasks, show up with your friends and have a really good time,” said Abby Millsaps, marketing coordinator for the Department of Recreational Services.
“This event is brand new,” Millsaps said. “We have never done anything like this before.”
The event is free to students, and each student can bring a guest from outside the Kent State community. Prizes will be awarded to survivors and those infected. The first 500 contestants will receive a free T-shirt.
