Kent police are looking for two suspects involved in an aggravated burglary at College Towers, an off-campus apartment complex not operated by Kent State, early Monday morning. Social media reports indicated that a gun was involved, but police confirmed that no weapons were seen.
According to a Kent Police Department press release, the suspects were described as two black males in their mid-20s wearing dark clothing, one with a light-colored T-shirt underneath a dark hoodie. The suspects allegedly assaulted a resident and stole several items before fleeing.
The victims of the burglary were a 19-year-old male student, who received non-incapacitating injuries, and an 18-year-old female student according to the incident report.
Aggravated burglary — a first-degree felony — is defined by the Ohio Revised Code as trespassing with the intent to commit any criminal offense when another party is present if “the offender inflicts, or attempts or threatens to inflict physical harm on another,” or “the offender has a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance on or about the offender’s person or under the offender’s control.”
Anyone with information should call the Kent Police Department at 330-673-7732.
