Tickets are on sale now for the fourth presidential speaker series that will feature Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, the first Pulitzer-Prize-winning husband and wife duo.

The two won the Pulitzer Prize in journalism for their coverage of China’s Tiananmen Square democracy movement. They co-wrote “China Wakes: The Struggle for the Soul of a Rising Power” and “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide,” which was made into a four-hour PBS series of the same name. The duo has combined journalism and activism to report on human-rights abuses such as worldwide maltreatment, marginalization and brutality toward women.

“These are front-line journalists who have seen the world’s history unfold in front of their eyes, and their perspective demands our attention,” said Kent State President Lester Lefton in a press release. “Human rights continue to be a dominant issue around the world — one that our students will face as they enter the global workforce. Kristof and WuDunn have a message that will resonate with both our heads and our hearts.”

Kristof and WuDunn will speak in the Kent Student Center Ballroom 7 p.m. Nov. 14. The free event is sponsored by sponsored by Kent State’s Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the College of Communication and Information. It is open to the public who have reserved tickets here.
