Kent State Health Services has been reaccredited by a national health care organization.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accredits health care facilities that excel in patient safety and ambulatory, or outpatient, care.

Accreditation is a three-year process determined by a list of nationally recognized standards set by the AAAHC. University Health Services scored a perfect 100 percent on the site visit and survey.

This is the fourth accreditation for University Health Services, having been accredited in 2004, 2007 and 2010.

“It’s exciting and very rewarding for our staff to receive this recognition for their excellent work,” University Health Services director Angela DeJulius said in a press release. “Accreditation is a rigorous, comprehensive process that evaluates many aspects of the health center, including the staff’s professional credentials, the facility and the quality of care we provide. Patients have many options when seeking healthcare, and knowing that the health center is accredited should give the Kent State community confidence in choosing our team.”

Last year, University Health Services had more than 17,000 student appointments with the medical, women’s health and psychological clinics.

According to its website, University Health Services provides non-emergency outpatient care to all eligible students, faculty and staff, including examination and treatment for illness and minor injuries, women’s health care, laboratory, x-ray, physical therapy, pharmacy services and health education. University Health Services accepts all Kent State employee health plans and other major carriers. Self-pay rates are available for uninsured patients.
