Kent State (3-10) struggled taking care of the basketball and fell to Bowling Green (12-2) 58-39 in the first home game of the new year Thursday night.   

The Golden Flashes went into the halftime locker room only down by seven after a tight first half of basketball. Both teams shot the ball poorly going into halftime, neither connecting on even a third of their field goal attempts.

The Golden Flashes were only down by five early in the second half but the Falcons scored 16 points off of 21 Kent State turnovers and managed to go on a 15-0 run that seemed to knock the wind out of a Kent State team that has a turnover margin good for tenth in the league.

The Flashes never seemed to recover after that run, getting outscored 38-26 in the second half. Kent State finished the game shooting 33 percent. The Falcons shot it a tad better at 36 percent.

Senior guard Amber Dunlap and freshman guard Larissa Lurken tied for the team-high with nine points. Lurken also lead Kent State with 6 rebounds. Ashley Evans chipped in with a well-rounded performance, totaling seven points, six assists, and five rebounds.

Kent State will look to bounce back this Sunday when they travel to Muncie, Indiana to take on Ball State. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
