A man opened fire inside a classroom at Purdue University Tuesday, killing one person and leading officials to send text alerts telling students to find shelter, police and the university told the Associated Press. The suspect, who is now believed to have targeted the man he shot, surrendered to a police officer minutes after the shooting. Read fully story.

At the Archdiocese of Chicago, top leaders have helped hide the sexual abuse of children, according to thousands of pages of internal documents. The documents — released through settlements between attorneys for the archdiocese and victims — show that for decades,  priests were moved from parish to parish in order to avoid any abuse scandals.

Two Mexican citizens were arrested in Texas Tuesday after using account information that was stolen during the Target security breach. The two men used the account information to buy tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise, according to a South Texas police chief. Read full story.

The search has begun for three women suspected of planning terrorist attacks at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The women have been deemed “black widows” because for more than a decade, women have been behind Russia’s worst terrorist attacks, blowing up subway cars, killing people going to a rock concert and downing airliners.
