Update coming Thursday about new architecture building
Design architects Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi will present an update to the Kent State community on the design progress for the university’s new College of Architecture and Environmental Design facility. The presentation will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Cartwright Hall Auditorium. The presentation is free and open to the public.
The purpose of the presentation is to provide insight into the evolution of the design for the new facility, which will be located along the Lester A. Lefton Esplanade between South Lincoln and Willow streets. Participants from both the WEISS/MANFREDI design team and the university will discuss how input from different sources has impacted the facility’s design.
Attendees will learn how the plan incorporates a reduction in the size of the building, yet maintains the integrity of the original competition design. The new CAED building is a component of the university’s campus enrichment initiative, “Foundations of Excellence: Building the Future.”
