At 3:44 p.m. Monday, Kent State students received a Flashline advisory in regards to a shooting approximately half a mile from Kent State’s Ashtabula campus. Once notified about the shooting, the Ashtabula campus went into lock down mode, according to Temple Kincaid, the clerical specialist for the Ashtabula campus.  

The Ashtabula Police Department was unable to comment at this time.  

The response style that Ashtabula campus uses in the case of an active shooter incident (ASI) is known as “A.L.I.C.E.”, a five step acronym meaning alert, lockdown, inform, counter, and evacuate, all of which are possible solutions to help survive an ASI.
