Kent State’s political science department is hosting a screening of “Inequality for All,” a film created by Robert Reich. Immediately following the screening, there will be a live webcast with Reich. The screening will be in Room 177 of the Michael Schwartz Center on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m.

Reich is a political economist, author, and political commentator. He was the labor secretary during the Clinton administration and is currently chancellor’s professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley.

The film is an exploration of the American economy and the widening gap between the mega-wealthy, the middle class and people who work full-time but are still living paycheck to paycheck. Reich also explains how the consolidation of wealth affects the economy and the job market.

Thomas Yantek, director of undergraduate studies in the department of political science, first decided to show the film because the film “offers an opportunity to learn more about an issue of major importance.”

“[This issue is] one that has come to define US society more and more, although in ways that can cause us to question some of our deep-seated beliefs about fairness and equality in our society,” Yantek said. “Education has rarely been so gripping and engaging.”
