Kent Environmental Council to host renewable energy speaker

The Kent Environmental Council will explore renewable energy options at its annual meeting Feb. 10 with guest speaker Peter Schubert, director of the Richard G. Lugar Center for Renewable Energy.

Schubert, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, will focus on alternate energy resources and their effects on the economy of Northeast Ohio.  

He has been the principal investigator on research projects from the USDA and NASA related to renewable energy, energy harvesting and sustainability. He is a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent.

Schubert will speak after the KEC’s annual meeting Feb. 10 at Kent Presbyterian Church on 1456 E. Summit St. at 7 p.m. KEC’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. for members and prospective members.
