Outgoing president Lester Lefton listens at the Board of Trustees meeting, Jan. 9, 2014, that announced Beverly Warren as Kent’s president-elect, to take effect in July.

A reception will be held this Friday to honor retiring President Lester Lefton, who announced last year that he will retire this July.

The Board of Trustees is hosting the event, which will be held in the Student Center Ballroom from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The ceremony will include remarks from Lefton, Provost Todd Diacon, Alfreda Brown, vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion; and Evan Gildenblatt, the university’s special assistant for federal relations in Washington, D.C., and former executive director of Undergraduate Student Government.

The event will highlight Lefton’s contributions to the university since he began at Kent State on July 1, 2006. Refreshments will be served, and the event is open to all faculty, alumni, staff, students and community members.
